Blackberry Coconut Margarita

Every now and then, I love to relax, unwind, and have myself a cocktail. I typically go for martini's or margaritas that are not painfully obnoxious with the sweet ingredients. Otherwise, it is a horrible hangover in five minutes flat! Nahhhh, you can keep those. I want savory, strong, and just a hint of something special! I will even enjoy a fine blended whisky from time to time. But, this time around, there was a margarita to be made.

This works great with freshly pureed and strained blackberry puree. If it is not in season, frozen/thawed/strained blackberries can still be used. While the sweet components take the lead in the flavor profile, the balance of savory notes in this cocktail drove me crazy. It is absolutely delicious! For me, it was a no-brainer: I need to make a margarita immediately!

You choose your personal preference of tequila and orange liqueur for this. Shake it up vigorously into your favorite glass, garnish with sliced lemon, and enjoy responsibly!

INGREDIENTS: 2-3 Parts Coconut Tequila (3 will make a strong margarita) 2-3 Parts Blackberry Puree (frozen, thawed, and then strained) 2 Parts Orange liqueur 1 Part Lime juice, fresh-squeezed Ice Margarita Salt - optional Lemon or Lime slice - optional

Into your cocktail shaker glass add your ice, tequila, blackberry sauce, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Cover and shake vigorously. With either a lime or lemon wedge, wet the rim of the glass and dunk into a bin of margarita salt to lightly coat. Pour your iced margarita beverage into the glass. Garnish with a slice of your favorite citrus!
