Sausage & Rice

I absolutely love a good rice dish. I will even go as far as making extra the night before, if Im planning to do a fried rice, arancini, or stuffed peppers! The “Vermont Cheddar” sausages from North Country Smokehouse were PERFECT for this dish. And, the other sausages they offer will also work extremely well with this! So, let’s start with a gorgeous sausage and rice dish with a creamy cheese sauce! After that, Ill show you in a different video for the steps in a stuffed pepper version.


  • You will need a digital scale


INGREDIENTS:

NIGHT BEFORE - 2 Cups Rice, XL Grain into a rice-cooker. Fill with water until you can reach your finger's first digit to the top of the rice. (Finger method). Cool before refrigerating over night.


DAY OF Cooked Rice - 1/2 batch 2 Links, North Country Smokehouse "Vermont Cheddar" sausages, halved, sliced 8 oz Vegetables of your choice, small diced .50 oz Garlic, freshly minced Big Dog Sauce Company House Seasoning Blend

Thyme, fresh or dried, to taste

Kosher Salt and Black Pepper, to taste


1.) Prep all of your ingredients ahead

2.) In a saute pan on medium/medium-high heat, lightly oil and lightly season the pan with kosher salt and black pepper.

3.) Add your North Country Smokehouse "Vermont Cheddar" sausages to the pan and cook for about five minutes 4.) Add your prepped vegetables to the pan and cook for another five minutes 5.) Add your thyme to the pan and toss. You should start smelling the thyme in less than a minute 6.) Next, start with a light dusting of Big Dog Sauce's House Seasoning Blend on your mixture and stir. Make sure you taste-test to determine if you would like more.

7.) Then, add your pre-cooked rice to the pan. Make adjustments to your seasonings after incorporating together. Mix well to avoid burning the rice.
