Garlic Tuna Spread

Yes, yes, yes, it's here! I have had so many folks ask me about this delicious spread. It was used in the 2021 Paula Deen/Charcuterie video and most recently, my 2024 New Year's charcuterie board. This works perfect for smearing on breads, crackers, vegetable sticks, and makes a great appetizer offering! The best part about this is that it is using ingredients that just about everyone can easily find and it doesnt break the bank either! My husband loves this smeared on a toasted bagel and he wears it quite well! The video on Youtube features a double batch that was made, however the recipe will be a one-timer. You can easily double, triple, or quadruple this batch with the way I have it written out. Also, you are in charge of just how much of the dried spices to use. I always recommend starting with a teaspoon of each, mix the batch up, let it sit in the refrigerator for about two hours and THEN taste test. If you want more spices, simply add more and mix again.

INGREDIENTS:

8oz Cream cheese, room temperature

1 Can of Water-packed tuna, well drained 2 TB Shallots, finely minced 1 TB Garlic, finely minced 1 tsp Kosher Salt* 1 tsp Black Pepper* 1 tsp Granulated Onion Powder* 1 tsp Paprika*

Scallions, finely sliced

Parsley, chopped - optional

1. Drain the tuna well and empty the contents into your mixer bowl 2. Add the remainder of your ingredients

3. Gradually mix on low power/speed and increase speed 4. The mixer may need to be stopped to have the blade cleared and the sides scraped, so be sure to stop periodically 5. Continue to mix for the next five or so minutes until your mixture results into a smooth, spreadable consistency. Taste test to determine if you need more spices. Add another teaspon of each spice and mix well again.

For optimal results, refrigerate overnight. Serve this in a separate bowl for a charcuterie board, cheese board, or use for making individual appetizers. This is great as a sandwich spread and is amazing on a toasted bagel.
