Spiced Maple Balsamic BBQ Rib Sauce

Grilling and smoking foods is just about everyone's favorite outdoor activity! This BBQ sauce consists of very easily-obtained ingredients. One of those ingredients though, is from Celeste Oliva of Concord, NH. With their pure maple dark balsamic vinegar, this is going to put your taste-buds into overdrive. This is ridiculously delicious! This will work great for steak tips, pork ribs, lamb tips, salmon, chicken, etc...

We typically will do a large grill/smoke session on a Sunday as a way to have lots of delicious leftovers that can either be enjoyed again or repurposed into other meal-creations. Honestly speaking here, this sauce is evil. In a good way, though.

INGREDIENTS:

1 Quart Tomato sauce

3/4 C Celeste Oliva’s Maple Balsamic Vinegar

1/3 C Honey

1/4 C + 1 TB Organic cane sugar

1 TB Cajun Seasoning

1/2 TB Granulated Garlic

1 tsp Chili Powder

1/2 tsp Ancho Pepper Powder

1/2 tsp Arbol Pepper Powder

In a medium-sized pot on medium heat, whisk together all of your ingredients. You will need to routinely stir this to avoid the sauce from burning on the bottom of the pan.

As this cooks, the sauce darkens...

The balsamic vinegar is going to make this a much darker, more richer colored sauce. For the next 10-15 minutes, you will be stirring this frequently. You will need to bring this up to gentle boil to allow the sugar and honey to dissolve into the sauce. Depending on type of stove-top you are using, this should reduce by one-third to one-half.

Reduce heat for the next 10 minutes to a low-simmer. This is where your sauce should start to thicken. Stirring frequently will help to avoid burning the sauce. Remove your BBQ sauce from the heat and begin brushing this on your favorite proteins. Enjoy!
